Drama in the Primary School

Drama in the Primary School is a book in keeping with the ISTA philosophy - in that it is written by teachers for teachers. It contains 13 articles, projects and units of work directly aimed at any teacher involved in teaching Drama in the Primary School. It is relevant for high and middle school teachers who are involved in teaching primary school classes - as well as for primary age range teachers. It offers inspiration and new ideas for those already experienced in primary drama, but also provides concrete help and guidance for those who are new to using Drama in the primary school - but who are eager to get Drama happening. Written by experienced Drama practitioners - it provides tried and tested ideas. Ranging from creating an Ensemble in the primary classroom to looking at cross curricular issues such as gender; from exploring Movement work to a project for the under sixes; from using Drama to explore the world of literature and books to a comprehensive list of drama conventions. The contents include projects that are Drama based (i.e. using Drama as an established subject in the curriculum) as well as those which use Drama as a way of learning, a methodology for teaching Language Arts, Social Studies and EAL. A wonderful and inspiring collection for any teacher.

".... learning at its best.  I internalized what was taught into my very being, now it's time to bring it home to my school and spread the magic."
