Drama Across the Curriculum
Drama Across the Curriculum - is a book in keeping with the ISTA philosophy, in that it is written by teachers for teachers. It contains 13 articles, projects and units of work directly aimed at teachers wishing to use Drama as a methodology - to include a wider range of learning styles in the regular classroom - as well as making the classroom a more creative place. It is valuable for Drama teachers when looking at initiating cross-curricular projects; for Curriculum Coordinators looking at new approaches and developing the role of interdisciplinary work in schools; for any faculty member wanting a fresh outlook on new ways to teach old material. The book opens with two overviews on the role of the arts in the classroom that sets the subsequent contributions in their wider context. It then includes projects that look at Drama and Life Skills; History; English Literature; Physics; History; Biology and integrated Arts. It also includes ways of exploring the concept of Ensemble in any classroom; using Drama to teach cross-curricular issues; and a comprehensive list of Drama conventions to use in any subject area. A wonderful and inspiring collection for all Middle and High School teachers as well as any Drama department.
